Default best mods for low end torque

I need some advice from some fellow members regarding the best mods for low end torque. I currently have a DD A4 2004 LS1 and I have done the blackwing, kooks headers, corsa exhaust, and a tune from MTI (they are awesome) and I am going to upgrade to the 3.42 gears in the next few weeks. I don't take this car to the track and put about 40 miles per day on it - I love having a lot of torque in the lower rpm band - any next suggestions? Thanks.

I'd say go with a conservative grind cam like the GT2-3

I went through the same thinking as you when I started modding. I love to hit the pedal and have the tires start launching nicely. That seat of the pants effect combined w/ pushing your back into the seat can't be beat.

The most noticeable mod is definitely the gears! You'll notice a nice change right away w/ the 3.42. On top of that, a torque converter can also make for some great changes as well w/ regard to the seat of the pants effect. You might even consider 3.73 gears to enhance you fun a bit further.

My setup you will see below in my sig, but I'm getting ready to add a 2800 vig torque converter to it as well. I did it in stages, but the first thing to do is the gears.
Maggie is very nice especially for low end grunt for sure. Just gets more $$.

Gears and stall. I'm doing 3:73s with a 3600 stall for my blower application.

Not on an A4

Do the 3.73's- they'll be more noticable than the 3.42's

I agree.

I'd wait for any addiional mods until you drive the car. Since you mentioned you don't take your C5 to the track a lot, then this mod may be enough.

Your driving habits sound like mine Also drive my vette forty miles a day to work and back. Also wanted my vette to have that low end torque so i opted for a used twin turbo setup. I wanted to keep the engine and drive train stock and the TTi Stage 1 kit was made just for those purposes. Drives like a stocker until you hit the go pedal, and then it's pure smiles

Thanks guys - this has been a big help and confirms I made the right decision to do the gears.

You can get some more from a correctly selected cam, that's exactly why I went with the cam I did was to boost the low mid-range while sacrificing something up top. I will be doing gears right after I have the car tuned from the FAST 90 install that will be next. The 3.90's (I have the MN6) are sitting in the basement just waiting

I think you are going down the correct path though, good luck with it!!!

Man its going to be a good summer
