Default Broken flashers switch?

Last night I was on my way over to a friends house that I am house sitting. Anyway it was very dark and I got lost so I pulled over on the side of the road to make a call and put my hazards on. When I pressed the hazard button it felt like it went in a little farther than normal and now it won't come back up. It was late and I didn't have any tools with me to start pulling the dash apart so I just pulled the hazard fuse to turn them off. Just wondering has this ever happened to anyone else and do you think it is just a bad switch or anyone have any idea?

Usually the first indication that the hazard switch is going bad is that the turn signals start working sporadically and for a while you can get them to work by thumping the hazard switch a few times. After a while this doesn't work and you have to change the switch. A lot of H swithces have gone bad and my guess is the H switch is the most obvious culprit in your case, change it out and see if that doesn't do it.

Just cycle the hazard switch several times (no need to get physical) until that doesn't work anymore, then replace the switch.

They are made by Lucas, yes "old crappy English car electronics" Lucas, so it's not like replacing it is a permanent fix.

The flashers still work fine... no blinking funny or anything. The button is just stuck down! Is it possible to change out the switch without having to move the whole dash pad?

Yes, via radio removal, you can get to the back of the switch, popping the tabs from the front.
