Charging system problems........ Help
recently drained the battery,
went to replace the battery and they said battery was totally fine.
Tested charging system while car was running, and said it wasnt charging.
Removed alternator had it tested and it works fine.
What else can I check or test to find the problem
To top it off, sometimes it stays at 13.9 volts (assuming when its charging properly)
and other times I can watch the voltage drop.... until car shuts down.
well, after searching for similar posts regarding my problem, I found my problem. It was the positive cable where it connects to the starter soloniod, just like a few have mentioned before. It looked like it was still snug, but after getting to it and moving it , it was loose and need tightning. This seems to be a common problem.
But Bad news. Upon tightening it, I snapped the stud right out of the starter solonoid.
Now I have to get the car towed to the dealer and have the entire starter replaced. $$
All of this could have been prevented, if the masterminds at Chevy would have gone that extra inch and put a fricken lock washer on the damn nut!!!!!!
