Love the Katech stuff and recommend it with their own covers..
However, since they don't sell a universal kit, I thought I'd post the availability of mine here. If this is in any way offensive to Katech, moderators please remove.
I have two kits that work with any covers. Here's the pictures...
Coil Relocation Kit - Moves Coils off Valve Covers
Coil Relocation Kit - Moves Coils over the Valve Covers
The over the cover kit mounts to existing threaded holes on the intake manifold. Takes about two minutes to mount.
The harness replaces the factory coil harness. You can can easily use the factory piece, just takes some time to make it fit cleanly. My harness is pre-made and makes the install sanitary and totally plug 'n play.
Thanks Charlie. A few more questions:
1. Can I use the 'over cover' kit with aftermarket fuel rails?
2. Any issues with the 'over cover' kit and FAST 90 intake?
3. I already have the Katech long wires, can I buy just the hardware and harness for the 'over cover' kit?
4. I was going to buy the ARP intake bolt kit, does the 'over cover' kit replace some of the intake bolts? Any issues otherwise using the ARP intake bolt kit?

Yes, just move the mounting locations.
On a stock fuel rail system the coil kit mounting tabs mount over the fuel rail tab - just lift the bolt, slide the mount over the fuel rail tab - re-insert bolt.
With after market rails you will have to one of the manifold bolts.

None at all.

No, there is plenty of thread as the mounting tab is .133 thick.

Thanks Charlie, I'll give you a call on Monday to order.
Coil Relocation Kit - Moves Coils over the Valve Covers
Charlie,
Do you have a picture of this car from the passenger side? I'm looking to use the same covers and coil relocation kit and wanted to see if it would interfere with the oil fill cap.
I understand why GM wants the coils there, but its way to damm ugly on such a pretty motor. The restance on the wires do to lenght can be delt with, larger wires with little distortion, hoter coil packs( although the stockers seem to be fine). Why would you go through all the trouble of relocating the coils to the upper part of the valve cover, if your going to do it put the out of sight. And guys, your all mechanically inclined here ( most of us) , I just cant see spending over $150.00 let alone $400.00 for a couple brackets to mount the coils. Boy oh boy some of these venders just love you guys.

Here's my answers;
Several reasons for moving the coils either off or over the cover;
1) allow use of any after market cover
2) makes cover removal easy
3) reduce coil heat (and the over the cover reduces the heat dramatically as well as the off the cover does - you would be amazed at the heat transfer from the valve covers)
Your statement on the cost, with the the inference that it is over-priced is wrong. You need to cost out components (all either SS or anodized aluminum), add the labor for harnesses (all with premium oil/heat resistant sleeving and new connectors) and finally factor in a new set of premium ignition wires.
Beautiful! Where did you get the valve covers and how much? You can PM me if you don't want to publish price. Thanks!
I am going to be installing a cam in a couple of weeks and thought this would be a good time to relocate coil packs and get a different look with the valve covers.....Thanks Dave

These are GM Performance Parts valve covers. The part numbers are as follows:
25534398 - LS Center-Bolt Competition Valve Cover (with breather hole)
Aluminum valve cover designed for production center-bolt
LS Series cylinder heads. Sold as single piece. Order two
per engine.
25534399 - LS Center-Bolt Competition Valve Cover
Aluminum valve cover designed for production center-bolt
LS Series cylinder heads. Sold as single piece. Order two
per engine.
So you will need a combination of these two part numbers for a complete set. The best price I have found so far is from SDPC2000 dot com.
To anyone who has painted the chevrolet valve covers........
I got the new valve covers in today..What paint did you use on your covers? I picked up some 1200% high temp engine paint and primer(ceramic), but was not sure how it would adhere...Thanks Dave

Mike how did you fasten the baffle on the under side of cover and did you tap and thread the brass fitting? Have you had any problems? I have ls6 heads so I only have the one port on the passenger side.I was considering capping off the air tube, and letting it breath through the valve cover.. Thanks Dave

The passenger side has the breather hole. How did you fasten the breather in?
