Hello Vette Friends, I just purchased a 2001 C5 and I had a question about the radio. My vette has the stock Delco single CD player and it has an auxiliary button on it. I want to know if I can plug an RCA cord into the back of the radio and hook my MP3 player into it? Let me know what you think? Thanks
I know that the last post said to post your question in the Audio section.
I'm not hung up on little things like that so I will give you my best guess based on minutes and minutes of research.
I have ordered an adapter from Logjam Electronics (google for address) and was told that the CD changer cable was necessary.
As I understand it, your car no longer has the accessory power lead that was in the earlier cars (but I could be wrong) so you will have the additional joy of locating and splicing a power source.
PM me in about a week and I will let you know how it went. I am hoping to do a post with pictures of the install but we will have to see how much time I have when the parts get here.
This would be similar to installing a satellite radio. When I did my XM Commander, I used the CD changer cable along with an auxiliary input adapter, both available from Litewarehouse.com (now mvpautoparts.com). For the power tap, there's a pair of wires under the passengerside footwell panel, one is 12V switched, the other unswitched (yellow and orange respectively). Once all is connected and powered, the Aux button on the radio will switch in the auxiliary device.
