My 95 C5 AC compressor is leaking freon. I put a can of UV dye in 2 days ago and used the car in normal everyday driving. The dye showed up all over the front of the compressor. But the compressor works fine as long as the pressure is up. Are there any "O" ring seals that could cause this, or do you think the compressor is toast??? Any suggestions would be appeciated. Should I get this one rebuilt or buy a new one?? thanks ron

I've never heard of a rebuild, but I'd definitely get it taken care of before it frags and puts metal all thru your system. I bought a brand new delphi unit on ebay a few months back for ~$225.
I don't know about A/C compressors, but
according to Gene at Karshop, the answer is yes...the first thing you need to do it tighen the bolts that hold the two halves together....
I had bought a used one from him that leaked. He cheerfully refunded my money and then checked it out in his own car. He wrote back that all he needed to do was tighten up the bolts to stop the leaking at the "o" rings....
