I took my car out for a spin last night and was unable to put in 6th gear. It went 1/2 way in and I could feel a little grinding, so of course drove around the rest of the night in 5th When I parked it last week, everything was fine. Is there a linkage adjustment or something? I did race a mustang last weekend and wheel hopped a bunch in 1st. Car has a couple bolt ons and is an 01 with 23k miles. Thanks for any help. Rich

If you have a stock shifter there is an alignment pin in the front of the shifter, but based on what you are saying it sounds like a bad synchro.
Thanks Cenzo, I will try the adjustment procedure. It was really freaky that I had the issue yesterday, but not the last time I drove it. I just bought it about 500 miles ago. Once again, thanks, and I will check back in after I adjudt it!!
Changing clutch fluid and transmission fluid fixed mine. These transmissions are sensitive to dirty fluid. I had Mobil 1 synthetic fluid in for 60,000 miles, changed to Amsoil ATD.
Will not shift into 6th when off either. Do I have to remove center console to adjust likage? Thanks Rich
Don't see how you're going to do it without removing console or breaking your shift boot.
It sounds like you have a bad fork or synchro. If you can get all of your other gears and just not 6th, I don't think any adjustment is going to make a difference.
Car ran fine, no grind, no nothing. I raced a mustang, had a bunch of wheel hop in first last time I drove it and now nothing. The shifter goes all the way back like it is in it's position. If I had a bad syncro I would be able to put it in gear with motor off, or am I wrong about that? If it had a bad fork, would it let the stick go into position? I am not forcing it at all. Also, it looks as though there is an adjustment made from under the car,or am I seeing it wrong. Thanks for everyone's input!! Rich

Sorry didn't catch the no grind. Probably a bent fork that won't go back far enough to engage the sixth gear, only way to figure it out what is wrong will be to R&R the tranny.
I highly doubt it is a shifter alignment problem as all of the other gears work fine.
Also, feels like gear shifter goes into fork, and when I release the clutch, slight grind, like it is barely sitting on gear. I push in clutch and try to get it in again, same.
