I have LS1 edit on my 99 c5 and iam trying to add modifications to it which require a retune but the guys that i took it to said LS1 edit is locked by the orignal tuner and only he can unlock it. Anyone here know if this is true? If so is there anyway to find the code without taking the car to the orignal tuner?
Unless you have the original PCM download from "your" car, another PCM isn't going to do you much good without taking it to the dealer to have them reflash it to "your" car. Also, within the PCM and BCM, there is a security feature of a secret password between them. If the pasword doesn't match on both computers, the car will not run. I suggest that you take it to the dealer and have them reflash the exisiting PCM back to factory specification for your car. From that point you can use LS1Edit to make modifications to your tuning and a hint here...make sure you save the first download of your factory flash tuning to a file in your laptop that you then make several copies of in different places and burn it to CD. If you ever take it to a tuner, insure you tell them not to lock it.

You will need their programing software to unlock it.
you download your PCM file, send it to them, they unlock it, load it back in and you have control of your property now.
I'm not sure if HPtuners will have the same service, perhaps they do?
