For '02 manual transmission cars, there is no relay kit in the footwell.
The recall is all just programming.

If the column is locked, I'm afraid you need a tow.
If the column is unlocked, but the car thinks it is locked, then
a bypass kit will fix it.

Try doing this. I have done it and it does work but I do recommend getting the bypass kit.

Column Lock Failure
Good advice, I had the same problem on my 2002 coupe. Was stranded out in the mountains at my friends house, tried everything until I encountered a usenet post I think detailing this fix.

The key word in the fix is HARD (that should have been capitalized). Don't ***** foot around, jerk that thing left and right HARD.

Try this also. MAKE SURE that the battery is FULLY CHARGED! Get some jumper cables hooked up from another car if you need to. Then enter the DIC and pull up the DTC's. Clear ALL the DTC! Then do the steering wheel shake thing while turning the key to ON. iF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW :::

This is the absolute best C5 Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) web site!!!

http://www.corvettedoctor.com/Code_Main.html
http://www.corvettedoctor.com/index.html

www.corvettedoctor.com

Go to “technical data base” and then to “Corvette ECM Computer Codes”. Then select your year car. Read the instructions and then scroll down to the "READ MORE" window to view the code definitions.\

Here is another very good site:

http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_cod...d-ii-codes.php

Make sure to include the H or C suffix!!

It should get you back home. GET A CLB!

It is the relay that is connected to the BCM in the passenger footwell. I am sure it is the only external relay in the area.
