Hi guys, I have an 04 A4 with 5900 miles. I purchased the car 1 year ago with 3800 miles. The oil looked like it was new when I purchased the car. I decided to have the oil changed on Friday. After the Mobil 1 Oil change I drove home (about 10 miles). I remembered to reset the oil life when I got home. I pressed the reset button and held it down. The engine oil life was reset to 100% but the "Check Engine Light" came on as well. I put the car in the garage and decided to let it sit. On Saturday, I started the car and the light was still on. I drove the car about 20 miles and then parked, shut the car off, and restarted about 15 minutes later. The light was off!!!! The light has not come back on. My question is why do you think the light came on in the first place, and why did it go off just as mysteriously??!! Should I have the car checked? Thanks for all your anticipated help as usual!!!!
I have been having an engine light problem lately too. I cleared codes and then the light came back on after I had to make a hard stop and activate abs. At the same time my service traction control and abs warning came on. I will go pull codes again but it is strange to have the check engine light come on after hard braking.
I thought maybe too much driving. I have already put 9K on the odometer just this year. I drive it everyday. In fact we just got back from a trip to San Antonio, TX, the following week Albuequrque, NM and the next weekend was Denver through the snow storm. Maybe got mad that it was cold, wet and dirty for several days.

You may want to do a search on "EBCM" to see if the symptoms fit your situation.
I just now pulled the codes. They were: P0332 H, U1016 H, U1064 H and U1096 H. The "U" codes I am not worried about but the P0332 code is a knock sensor code. Don't honestly know what that might be telling me. Any help would be apprecitated.
all your codes are history (H) codes. They happened once and went away. You get a bunch of them every time you pull codes. It's too many computers talking to each other too much. The only code that is a some concern is the knock code -. Have you done any mods to the car??

Erase it, if it stays away then you don't have a problem, if it comes back then you may have a bad knock sensor or the short harness from the knock sensor might be chafing behind the intake manifold.
Do you clean your engine compartment with water?
GM issued a SB for owners who wash their engine compartments and flood out the knock sensor cavities, this directed the service department to replace the sensor and then use RTV to build up a dam around the opening to help keep water out of the opening.
