I did swap the temp sensor back and the pinging came back. I would definetly try it before doing the plug swap.
I have no pinging anymore w/ 91 octane fuel or better.
I have a very slight pinging still at just the right amount of throttle (about 1/4) and the right amount of load (slight hill climb) w/ 87 octane fuel.
The temp sensor is cheap and well worth the try.
Thanks for the input...I'll pass this on to my tuner first thing.
Here in Cali is all we can get is 91 octane, so if your's have no problem with it..I hope to be fine..
Someone should make this a sticky. Amazing info here from some "real" experts. I think pinging is one of the worst things that plague vettes, just look at how many threads are on this subject. I went thru the same stuff here and basically did everything - except for the temp sensor. That is PURE GENIUS ! I too have that dreaded 40-50 mph ping when you lug the engine....just enough to increase a little speed but not enough to cause a 4-3 downshift. Very annoying. At work, I am the "king of ping" cause thats all I complain about. LOL
Many thanks to all that contributed to this post, very educational.
