Default Callaway honker Problem

I installed this on my 03 Z06... for starters it was a PIA to install... 2nd... I am throwing code P0102 and the engine at first didnt want to idle for like 2 seconds when it started up... then I got the code... so I took it out to see how it felt and it feels sorta bogged down a little? it doesnt even spin a tire at all all through first when once the power band kicked in stock it would squeel a bit... and if I quickly tap the gas you hear the huge suck of air... then the rpms shoot up... like a half a second after... you would think it would rise as you hit the pedal... any info?

I believe the 03 Z06 was a screenless MAF. Any CAI will disrupt the flow enought to throw that code. Likely, once thrown, you may be in the backup speed density mode. I seem to remember the fix is to get the LS1 MAF that has the screen in it. If you know anyone local, you can try and see if this corrects the code prior to spending any money on it but as I remember this is fairly common with the screenless MAF.

i put on the honker and started getting a p1514 code ( airflow to tp sensor correlation high ) which would send the car ( 03' Z ) into limited power. sounded like the car was on a stutter box. last saturday i removed the honker and put the stock one back on, new air filter element and cleaned the maf with throttle body cleaner and so far no codes. and i have been making it a point to drive the car everyday and get on the highway as much as possible.

We're very disappointed to hear about your situation. If you'd like, you can call us and speak with a technician or an engineer about your installation. There's probably an easy solution to the problem. We can go through it step by step with you.

One of our factory test cars was a 2003 Z06 and we're very familiar with the application. Honker installation should not trigger trouble codes. There's about 20 hp to be gained with an otherwise-stock '03 Z06. More as soon as you add other performance parts.

Let us help you fix the problem. Please call us at 860-434-9002, 8am - 5pm, eastern US time, Mon - Fri.

I won't take your forum nick-name literally for now. I suspect an installation issue of some sort, i.e. un-metered air entering the engine. Let Callaway help you; I assure you this is the highest-quality aftermarket intake available for a C5, period.

I agree with Dan, I had a Donaldson, Vararam and now the Honker. The Honker is my last CAI and a keeper. Very good quality, excellent filter size and fit, as good as OEM. I would call Callaway and hopefully they can help you out.

...probably not with the negative attitude that it can't be fixed. I can't recall anyone else posting that they had issues with theirs, so you'd be in a small minority if the issue can't be resolved. Keep an open mind and you'll find success.

I know this doesn't really help you but I had my honker installed 2 months ago at a reputable corvette shop. I'm not sure if they got codes and dialed them out but I haven't thrown any yet on my 03 AE coupe.
