Oil Viscosity

HI, new member here. I have some Royal Purple 20w-50 syn oil laying around and I was wondering if it would be ok to use it in my 2003 a4 Cpe during the summer instead of the Mobil 1? I bracket race about once a month and drive it about 100m a month.

5W30 is what is specified and will give you better HP.

I agree with everyone else, the LS1 has some small oil passages, stick with 5w-30.

Mobil 1 is not a true synthetic. RP is. I'd exchange the 20-50 for 5-30 Royal Purple. Take it to an O'Reilly Auto Parts. They will return anything. I get my RP from them. If some idiot at the counter says no, just talk to the manager. He will cave. Just say you bought it in another town.
