166, and felt like it was hungry for more (99 coupe, intake, exhaust, computer, TB), all alone early one Sunday morning. I trust myself and the car just not the others on the road. I'm not a traffic weaver! I drive the darn thing 100 mph all the time. If your not going to drive a vette the way it was designed and just want some sort of status symbol, go to the Jag dealership, they would love to have you (and your fifty grand).

No aversion to doing it the safer way btw, just have no idea where to go (other than drag strips, which dont really interest me) or how much track time would cost.

Would love to do a road course :-)

Was it maxed out or did it have some more to go?

another 1/4 MPH to go no that was it.

189 was with no body kit. Body aero would slow it down a bit.

96 LT4 Grand Sport did 163.

Thanks, I was curious as I make somewhere between 450 and 500 RWHP on my P1SC SCed C5. I got it to 186 but then it was accelerating very slowly. Seeing we have the same power output, I was curious to see how much I could reach.
189mph is not that bad, I am happy

UAE-VETTE,
I disagree with your comment on how sturdy the vette is ( Have had first hand experience with this - took my old 99 for a flight of 77 feet ).
To each his own though. Likewise about driving skills and Dubai's roads. Not getting into an argument with you, just stating that it is not right to make assumtions based on personal experiences. I think we have a good number of excellent drivers out here .
On the point of the the thread, Joel ( aks JBSBLOWNC5 ) has taken a C5 Coupe to 200 so it is possible You just need the ***** lol. I have personally seen the high 170s in my own before letting off.

I have hit 170 per the speedo in my 98 A4 2.73 car when all it had was a cold air kit and it was still pulling. Stopping is what sucked

I had my stock 03 Coupe to 160 @ 5000 in fifth gear. From a dead stop it took just short of a mile. Lot's left just ran out of two lane blacktop!!!!!

Does anyone know of any legal places in the Northeast for me to take my C5 WOT? I'm at around 425rwhp/400tq and I'm sure it can exceed the oem top speed of 176 but I can't find anywhere to do it legally!

1/4 mi is fun and all....and occasional empty highway sprints into the mid 100's is fine (though extremely unsafe) but it would be cool to find an airstrip or similar that I can "legally" test my top end on.

Not all of us were lucky enough to get exposed to racing when were eight years old by our wealthy fathers. It takes a lot of time and money to climb the ranks in the racing world.

I have n 02 Z so i dont know id this counts in this thread but yesterday, i just beat my previous top speed(156mph) with a new personal record of 168mph. Best part of all. i get cutoof right at top speed by a soccer mom in a minivan. Talk about good brakes and an excellent handling car. Also at 168, still had rps to go!Be careful guys, im not a regular high speeder but i know some of you are! -wip-
