Any idea if a car with dual climate control can be operated without the actuators? While having all kinds of options is great, here in AZ just having cold air blasting straight on me and the passenger would be acceptable.
So I am wondering if removing the actuators might be a possibility and forever avoid the cold air one side and warm on the other problem when one or both actuators get out of range or cracked. Just remove both actuators when the doors are in the proper position and it seems to me they shouldn't move.
Any other ideas on how or if this could be accomplished? I wonder what code you might get without the actuators. I just replaced both actuators in my car just so I could get the one option I wanted, knowing the problem could reoccur. Now I am just thinking out loud about a ultra permanent solution.
If you remove the actuator then there is nothing to hold the door in whatever position it's in at the time, it'll just flop around.
Also, if you go to the trouble to get to the actuator to remove it then you've done most of the hardwork, so you might as well throw another actuator in there.
Get them in the position and temp you want and just UN PLUG them. They will not move from the setting that you have them in once there un-plugged. You will get HVAC codes but, it will NOT effect engine performance and you wil not get any CEL or check guages lights.
