Default Mirror Issue

Bumper in to exterior mirror ...now it swivels and I can pull it up. It will not stay in position. Need input.

Old guy needs help

Is it the mirror inside the housing that is loose?
If so you might have broken the plastic snaps on the mirror motor. I would try to snap it back in to place and see if it stays. Otherwise you can pop the mirror out and check what the motor looks like.

Do you mean that the entire mirror housing is loose or just the glass it self?

Have same problem -- entire mirror housing loose.

There is a belleville spring washer that holds the mirror on a pot metal post and retains a spring that loads the mirror to hold it place when it is rotated on the base. The spring washer comes loose and the spring loses tension. Search the thread for a repair. Altenrative is a $400 mirror.
