I have a bad freon leak at the compressor of my 99. Has anyone done a replacment on this compressor and is it very difficult? I know the GM replacement compressor is very expensive, but I have heard that there is a good aftermarket replacement. Can anyone give me any information about in inexpensive replacement comprressor?
I haven't replace the compressor but have changed the o-rings. On my other cars, I usually take it to a shop and have it rebuilt including adding oil and o-rings for about 300 bucks.

I bought a brand new AC/Delco in the C5 parts section for under $300.
My brother who is a mechanic advised me that I should either buy new or used... From his experience a working used A/C compressor was less risky than a newly re-manufactured one...
