I've got an LS7 clutch with LS2 flywheel. Been having problems, so I'm going with something aftermarket. Do I have to swap back to a LS1 flywheel, or can I bolt any available C5 clutch to the LS2 flywheel?
I know an LS2 flywheel is required for LS7 clutch, but does the same apply for what I'm asking? Thanks!
LS2 flywheel will bolt up to any aftermarket clutch/pressure plate. The only difference in the LS2 flywheel is there is more surface area. I put a LS2 flywheel with a centerforce clutch in a buddy's Camaro.
Actually, the car's still together... been waiting on a DTE diff. for two weeks, and will be for another week - ships next Monday. They told me 8 days 2 tuesdays ago. Once it does come apart, it'll be on a lift at the shop I work at - sorry!
I've already had the car apart twice for this, and am trying to replace everything I can this time to be sure I'll never have to do it again. If I have to pull my LTs again, I'm gonna cry. First the clutch went for real, and then I had a mystery pedal-pressed-in rattle that everyone thought was the TO/slave. Put it back together the 2nd time, and still had the rattle. This time we're thinking pilot bearing or pressure plate.
It's getting everything I can possibly replace new, and it appears that now includes the flywheel. Looks like the LS2 flywheel has, for lack of better words or descriptions at 6:30am, indentions in the flywheel along the edges as compared to the LS1 flywheel, which is flat from center to teeth. Ah crap.
