I have a 98 C5 with dual climate control. I bought the car used three
years ago.It had 17000 miles on it and was in near perfect condition. My
question is when I want to change the temp, I can only move the temp up or down 1 degree at a time.Is this normal?
bondo man
Well that was my first post and I don't think that I explained my problem very well.If the temp is 70 and I turn the temp **** to the right one click it will go to 71.Now if I turn it another click it will go back to 70.If I turn it again it goes back to 71.Now if I wait 5 or 6 seconds I can then turn it again and it will go to 72.It also works the same way in lowering the temp.
Is this right?
bondo man
I agree. My '99 has no problem running the temp setting up or down as I wish and there are no stop points or limitations of the setting other than the maximum high or low setpoints.
On my 02 z06, the first click just brings the temp display up. Then any more clicks, will raise or lower the values one degree per click. Once the first click is one, I can use my finger and ramp the temp UP or DOWN just about as fast as i can turn it.
First guess it that its the head unit itself and they can be acquired on Ebay real easy. It might send this information to the BCM as well, but since my manuals are lost in my garage somewhere due to a move over a year ago, I can't look it up for you. The alternative is to take it to the dealer and have them connect a Tech 2 and find out, but will cost you about $80 to find out where the problem is.
Well does anyone have an idea where to look for this problem?
Thanks bondo man.
If I were you,, I would break it open and see if you can find any loose solder joints or loose wires. It relatively simple and theres a post on it somewhere!
