The fuel rail covers fit fine. But the oil filler on the LS7 valve covers is shorter. The C5 filler is too long. It was a struggle to get the driver side cover on because of a tab on the cover toward the driver. I snipped it in half and the braided fuel line goes right by the tab now. Look at picture 5 on the right of the fuel line in the hole. It's a jagged cut. I'll get to it. :o I like them so that I can get some gawking from those that otherwise wouldn't know it's a 427.
The torque is amazing. You can lower shift points and TCC lockup making it real comfortable to drive, even with 3.90's and a PT4000.
Mines a level 5 too. I suspect we'll need every level we can get.
Good luck!
Thanks for the info
I didn't even know the LS7 valve covers had a filler cap (never looked under an LS7 coil cover) good to know since I would have might have cut the hole for the C5 oil filler off center
At least LS7 coil covers don't cost much (compared to LS6) if a mistake is made in cutting them!
Again Gratz on factory looking LS7 install

I don't think I've seen anything this pretty. Williams Performance did the install. The only mods are A.R. Headers and a Vararam. It's otherwise completely stock. It's converted to wet sump.
The car drives like a dream and has lots of B_ _ _ _S. The torque is great so I've been able to lower the TC lockup because of it. You can tell I'm really stoked.
My 364 will go up for sale next week when I can get some pictures.
It's stunning, Joe!
Virginal appearance ........ and runs like a scalded dog - with a factory warranty.

It is the first LS7 auto I've seen or heard about (not saying others don't exist).
What a great idea

Joel,
I don't think it's the first LS7 A4, but could be the first stock crate engine, wet sump, or something very specific????
Thanks, Nick does great work.

Thanks, I'm still pinching myself. A 427 is the ultimate for my generation. I know that many wonder why I didn't do more mods while it was out. But this is a really stealthy car. It's fast and it's fun to drive.

The only one I know of down here is the one that one of our Corvette Challenge racers had built. It has been around for quite a few months now, operating perfectly. Yes it's a full blown LS7 crate motor with all the factory associated parts, all in working order. This includes the A4 that it is mated with. Thing has a mild cam and runs 10's Bad azzed motor

Can't you build a better motor LS2 or LS6, into a 427 for less than $12000?

Yes. But reliability and stealth and power is kinda nice. I loved my 550rwhp LS2 that i had $8500 in. But it wasn't as much fun to drive everyday as i thought it would be.

Doesn't the LS7 crate motor from GM have a warranty as well? I'm like you. Reliability is key for me; plus having the titanium rods, sodium filled valve stems and all the other LS7 goodies is kinda cool too.

I can understand your points.

Do you have to have it installed at the dealer to get the warranty?

I don't think so. If it were a warranty replacement engine for a factory C6 Z06 then I would think it would be.

I am standing at the cross roads:

MTI Cam only 424rwhp LS6 in my C5 Z.

I want more, but what path to follow.

It seems no matter what direction you take, a big cube motor ends up costing about $12,000.

You either get their in a few steps/installments from a stock 347/364 start - or you just buy the dang thing in a box from GM.

By the time the bottom end is forged, killer heads added, intake, throttle body, tuning etc the LS1/2/6 based car will have about $10,000 in it. (I see all the claims of super-engines for $8000 - but the math never seems to add up).

I alsways keep coming back to a GM LS7 - 500bhp in the box - and if you want more then add a wicked LG cam... and the entire process starts over.

Heck - even a blown LS1/2/6 is a $8000 +++ excercise (and if you want any sort of longevity you need to forge the bottom.. and that adds another $4000 = $12G's again )

Is this the logic that brought youguys with the GM crate LS7's round to your decisions as well?

I just installed an LPE 100mm MAF. They say there is no power to be gained on a stock LS7. It may be true, but we'll see on the dyno. MAP kpa went up at 6000rpm from 94 to 98 and it had to be tuned for more air. The tires used to break lose at 45mph and now at 55mph. It is colder now, though.
In any case it is easier to tune. The map line is steady, with no chopiness. This sensor is for sure more accurate and I like the look of the setup.
The picture is in the 1st post.
