HELP-DIC Info Resets Almost Every Ignition Cycle? WTF?
Also, toggle to your voltage, if your PCM dips below about 11.5 volts while starting it can lose your DIC settings also.

bad. Put in a new battery and so far the fuel average does not reset
when cranking.

That C5 emblem shining in the sky!!!!!!!!!!!
You guys that had battery on the brain,,,
Its most likely a battery issue. Yep, I hear you saying, "But my car starts just fine every morning"
Battery voltage is inversely proportional to battery current. When the starter is engaged (especially on a COLD engine) it draws 350-450 AMPS!
As the amps or current draw goes HIGH, the battery voltage will drop as low as what it has stored or can produce. So,,if you have a battery that has a LOW charge from sitting or is old, it wont be able to maintain 12 VDC and may drop as low as 8 VDC and still start the car. Remember ,,,you have a 550 CCA batteryOnce a module senses a voltage less than its low voltage cut off voltage, it shuts down for the period of time that the voltage is LOW. When it rises above the cut off, the module turns back on operates normal again and flags a HISTORY DTC i.e. U-1036 H indicating it had a bad day.
Put a digital volt meter directly on the battery terminals. I use LONG leads and monitor the meter in the car. You should see 12.5 VDC -13 VDC. If you see less,,you battery is low charged or aged.
When you cold crank your engine, watch the battery voltage. If it is dropping very LOW (like 9 VDC) thats the issue. If you examine your DIC DTCs,,you will most likely see a ton of U series DTC. They usually are a result of low module voltage as a result of a marginal, aged or bad battery.
What you should do is have your battery FULLY charged then take it to auto zone or advance and have them check the battery under LOAD to see if the cold cranking capacity is adequate.
If you have the battery fully checked out and it test SAT, I have some other things to check.
