I know this topic has been discussed at great length, I have been reading the sticky and related posts. I have a 99 MN6, the recall work has been done sometime last year. I am getting the "pull key..." and "service column lock" messages. It will start, the wheel is not locked, but dies when you start to move. I have pulled fuse #23 and waited 30 minutes, didn't help. Is there anything I can do to get the car to run, without having it towed back to the dealer that did the recall work?
Check to see if you have the Harness K relay installed under the steering column. If the column does not lock and you can hear the actuator cycle when you turn on the key, I assume the lockplate has been removed. (and the column is not locking because lockplate is removed, not because the actuator has been disconnected. )
Can you hear the actuator cycle when you turn on the key?
If so, remove the panel below the steering column and try removing the Harness K wiring and re-connecting the actuator.
If the actuator is in working condition, this should allow you to drive the car.
If you do not have the GM Harness installed and an aftermarket relay has been installed with the actuator disconnected, try removing the CLB and reconnecting the actuator.
If you do not have a working actuator, then whatever relay is in the column lock actuator circuit has likely failed and you will need to replace it with a working relay.
