The link is great.
I read that he had to replace the front and rear coolant pipes. I only head in the past about replacing the rear. Can I reuse the front coolant pipe? I have a friend that works at GM, So I can buy the parts at his cost. Just need to make a list of parts that are needed so I am not standing over the engine scratching my head. I saw on the site that he had listed coolant plugs and or lines. I rather do the lines so it looks neat unless the plugs will not be seen. I want the engine compartment to look stock.

On an LS1 the front coolant pipe connects to the rear, so you can't reuse it unless you want to cut the connecting pipe and seal it. Probably easier to by the LS6 coolant line kit and be done with it. No risk of a leak that way. P/N for the LS6 coolant lines + plugs is 12602544.

I really don't know as the swap was done on my '00 when I bought it. Most of the lines would be covered up by the fuel rail covers anyways.

OK, Thanks. I will ask my friend to pick up the coolant pipe and gaskets. Most likely tackle this next week.

Thanks for the info everyone.

Next week?!!?! You weenie, get out there and get on it! Shouldn't take more than an hour or two, forget the coolant pipes, save your money and just snap the little ribs off on the bottom! It's 8:00, you should be done by 10:00! NOW HOP TO IT!

I was just looking Tat the engine this morning and I was not able to locate the coolant lines. Maybe it was to early for me. It was 6am without my 1st coffee. I know there are coolant lines, Just have to clean my eyes and look again. I see that there is a line going to the throttle body from the rear of the intake. Post results in a little while.

In that photo you can clearly see the metal cooling line snaking across the valley cover and connecting to the corner of each head.. Hope that helps.

Thanks, I see it now. My friend told me that the cost of the coolant line and the gaskets would be about $140.00 from the dealer at his cost. The gaskets are over $100.00. Thats crazy for those rubber gaskets. I am going to try some local parts stores for the gaskets. The coolant tube is still up in the air. Not sure if I am going to replace it.

If the LS6 intake has no visible tears in it's gaskets, then I wouldn't be worried about reusing them. FWIW with all the times my intake has been off I have never replaced the gaskets.

Don't do it until the heads/cam swap..
Too much to risk, plus its gonna have to come off anyway.
The knock sensors are right under it.
Too much anything can make them go bad..

You will NEVER see or feel a difference by just swapping out an LS1 for an LS6 intake.. No way..

PM valvegod, I got a set of gaskets from him for like $28. Anyways, the coolant lines run under the intake. You seriously will not hurt anything removing the little ribs under the intake, and honestly, if the seals on the LS6 intake aren't pinched or torn, I'd wipe them down and throw the intake on. My LS6 intake came off an 01 Vette, I cleaned the inside with carb cleaner, and then it was put on my heads/cam 99 SS. Then it was removed from the SS, not cleaned or anything other than wiped down, and put back on the SS. Then when I got my FRC, it was removed from my SS and put on the FRC, with nothing other than wiping it down. So it's been on and off 4 times since I've owned it, and it still has the original gaskets. The only reason I bought new gaskets for it (and I probably wont even use them ) is because I just dropped a ton of money on a new stroker, and I want to be extra careful. It's gonna get yanked soon anyways for a FAST 90 setup, so I'll probably just leave the gaskets alone.
