My Side View Mirror Fell Off
I was surprised that the mirror fell off.It seems that the ring holding it on came loose. Can it be fixed and where can I send it for repairs.Do I have to buy a new one and have it painted. There is nothing wrong with the old ones motor and paint. Can anyone help ? I live near Portland Oregon..... Doug

There used to be a guy on the forum who would repair the mirrors but I haven't seen any posts lately. Try searcing the archives and see if something pops out.

Take a look at this.

http://www.97vette.com/howto/mirror/index.html

When I bought mine, the drivers side mirror was simple glued down because the guy who owned it before me could not fix it. Anyway because i was missing the spring and such, I machined a groove into the base of the mirror, made a spring, and used a c ring to hold it all toghether. I know it is not the link you are looking for, but hopefully this helps.

I have been actually waiting on my mirror to fall off again, so I can try that fix. Mine fell off a few years ago and I just filled it with 2 part epoxy and taped it off to dry. I guess I've been lucky because mine has held for a few years now. I know that kills the folding functionality of the mirror and makes you feel a little like crap, but I used it as an option to replacing the whole assembly and having it repainted.

I still plan to do the procedure fix if mine ever falls off again.

Default GOOP works too

I saw the 25 step process to fix the mirror then went out and bought some marine GOOP. It holds FINE. Doesn't TURN but WTH who needs turning. takes about 10 minutes not 2 days. BIGHANK
