Default Thanks Orange County Corvette

Just had to give a public thanks to the guys at OCC, they just installed a new twin disk clutch for me with remote bleeder. What a difference in the car's performance. It's so much better. I can always count on Sean to provide expert advice and guidance on what's right for my particular setup. Every mod I do with those guys always moves the car forward. Also thanks to Paul for such a great job on the install and making sure everything was in order with the drive line right down to making sure my rear main seal was replaced so I wouldn’t have any more of that annoying oil leak.

Top notch.

Granted I'm still relatively new to the corvette world, but I didn't know about OCC. I thought WCC and Corvette Mike were Orange County's only Corvette specialty offerings.

Glad to see your clutch install went better than mine, Sean put in an LS6 clutch, and a new slave for me, car hasn't been right since, O yeah did I mention he told me that too many people had problems with the remote bleeder and advised against it.

That decision made the later master cylinder swap and bleeding a blast!

No matter the new master cylinder didn't help the soft clutch pedal, it's been that way since the day I picked it up from Sean, called him on the way home (2.5 hour trip) and Sean told me "O yeah we did think it felt a little soft but we bleed it twice so you should be good"

Also missing was the clutch line insulation wrap job that Sean promised.

Needless to say my car hasn't made a clean run through the gears since last September when OCC did their number on it.

O yeah I forgot to mention the Sunday morning we bought train tickets to make the 200 mile trip and get the car, Sean wasn't at the station (as he said he would be) and wasn't at the shop, didn't answer his cell phone convieniently. I did make it to OCC that day only to see my car on the lift, torque tube and rear still out. 2 days after Sean said it was ready.

Sean didn't pitch in for the cost of the train tickets, or the 2-day rental car we got to cruise out to California Speedway and later San Diego that weekend.

Like I said happy yours turned out well, I wouldn't take a bicycle to OCC.

99SoCalFRC sorry to hear you didn't have good luck there. I have taken my car there for quite some time now and they have always done right by me. Good luck going forward with your car.

Unresolved disputes
The Forum allows a factual post on an unresolved dispute with a vendor or another member once all efforts to resolve the issue offline have been exhausted. Then, the post must be factual and cannot be used to bash the vendor or the member. Once the post has been made, it cannot be repeated in other sections or on other days.

Moderators will try to leave such threads open until everybody with direct knowledge of the issue being addressed has had a chance to provide their version of the facts. The thread must not become a running debate on the accuracy of the “facts” and may not deteriorate into an exchange of personal attacks. Neither should be used as an opportunity for speculation by those who do not have direct knowledge of the issue.

Once there has been the opportunity for the facts on all sides to be posted, the thread will be locked. It will remain in the database and will be available for review by those who are researching the topic, vendor or member.

The Forum is not in a position to monitor transactions or to determine the “true facts” in most disputes. Upon request, however, the Forum will try to intervene and mediate a settlement suitable to all parties in a dispute. When issues are resolved in the matter, it will be posted to the original dispute thread so it becomes part of the searchable record. We believe that is a more useful record of performance for potential customers than would be an eBay-style rating system.

As has been our past practice, members or vendors who show a pattern of unresolved issues will be removed from Corvetteforum.com.

I got no problem waiting to see what OCC has to say, despite my anger I have said nothing on the board in the 9 months since the work, though I have talked to Sean directly and he has done nothing.

Well unless you consider dodging people's phone calls "something"

OCC is the only Corvette shop that I will allow to turn a wrench on my car.

Honez I saw your car during part of it's buildup while I was there - looks gorgeous.

SIGNEDFOR4, thanks for the kind remarks about my car. I prettey much feel the same as you do about OCC. I'm sure there is another side to the story here that will come out. While no shop is perfect OCC comes close. Given the results I have gotten from OCC they are first rate.

Default Every shop, and I mean EVERY SHOP.....

will have it's share of not so positive conclusions, due to one thing or another.
I will bet most anything there is more to the story than is presented here.I am not saying you didn't experience this, from your perspective, but I am POSITIVE there is another equally accurate perspective to be heard from yet.

OCC and Sean specifically is top notch

Yes they are VERY busy ,and yes,it may take longer than originally thought at times, but generally all that leave there are happy.....

All I can say is,when someone has a problem with a shop or company, they generally go elsewhere.........

Well, these guys have seen their fair share of rebounds from other shops, and again, those people generally wind up happy in the end

Sorry yours does not sound so good,I just can't believe( barring some emergency)that Sean just left you hanging........I just don't believe it...sorry.I will get the other side of this story....

That's the ONE thing that seperates them from so many others to me,their willingness to make things right!!!

Honez..............Love your car!!!

Wow, Thanks guys. Sorry for the late response but we are very busy here and we are not scanning the forum 24/7. As most of you know I don’t post very much on the forum. We let our customers do the talking for us.

Having said that, I refuse to respond to such attacks over the forum. We all know that there are two sides to every story and that nobody wins with this kind of exchange on the forum. What I will say is that generally if a customer is having a problem with the work performed, they bring the car back in and we address the issue.

I am sorry you are having an issue, but as most have found out, we will go the extra mile to take care of people, customers or not.

Nobody is perfect and that certainly includes us, so if you are having an issue with a clutch that we installed, call us and bring it back in. If we find that it was something we caused we will own up to it and repair the problem at no charge.

Sean

You see, excellent resolution to the issue. Sean, once again, you've proven why you have the premier Corvette shop in SoCal.

I've been to a few shops in Socal, and Sean at OCC not only takes care of his business better then anyone I've delt with, but stands behind his work as well! I've done a few major mods with OCC, and there have been some hurdles to get through, but they not only got me to the other side, but stayed late to do it!

In the world of high performance, and aftermarket parts, there will be times that things don't go just right. It's how the vedor handles those situations that sepperate the good from the bad in my book...

Sean, Paul and John are guys I'll continue to deal with!!!

JB

P.S. Glad your clutch worked out buddy!!!

You are right about every shop having issues! Unfortunatly that's the truth. I have never tried OCC but I heard gret thing about them.
But until now, the only shop that took care of me is A&A Corvette, I have tried others (I won't quote names as everyone on the forum loves this one of them in particular so I would get flamed ), supposedly big name tuners, and they suck big time, they don't care about their customers unless you write 5 digit checks!
A&A will remain my shop of choice as at least, I know for sure I can count on Andy! He nevel lied and always did what he said he'd do!

Honez, you car looks absolutely gorgeous!! The engine bay must be the nicest I have ever seen on this forum or in person. Congrats, you got a beautiful car

So much for the promise of the mods keeping it from getting personal, you guys should see the PM this guy sent me, I tried to state facts only (which Sean disputed none of) and this guy is acting like I kicked his brother in the *****.

How about you come drive my car and try out the clutch? How about you ask Sean where he was when he said he would pick us up the train station, you don't know any of the facts so get lost.

I would personally just take it back and have Sean fix the problem. I have had similiar problems with different shops that were on the so called THE SHOP list. I have never said anything negative but only because if you do you are bombarded with all the people that hold that shop in such high esteem. Funny how alot of people can actually believe that even a great shop could ever make a mistake. Take it back to OCC and let them fix the problem

I agree.

I think the problem here is that the OP started a thread to say thanks, not ask for opinion.

Then 99socalfrc took it upon himself to hijack the thread and spew some hate. Not cool and against forum rules as well.

I'll post my (excellent) results from my first OCC experience separately - but I must say, 99socalfrc must not be dealing with the same Sean I am:

Sean and his son took a Saturday morning to come in and take my car a week later than I had originally promised (my issue).

Then, OCC did all the work as agreed, at the price. When I had to go back to the Midwest on a family emergency, Sean and Katherine were always in touch, and kept my cherished car safe until I could get it picked up a week late.

OCC are not just brilliant Vette tuners - they are fine, fine people.
