When I came home tonight and shut my headlights off, they went down but then the driver's side one came up again halfway?!

So I manually turned it down, turned the lights on, then back off again and it did the same thing

Does anyone know what may be causing it to come back up again like this?

sounds like a short cause by hot power wire rubbing against the wire that turns on the headlights. Does your light come on when the ousing goes up?

 

Theres a TSB out to fix that problem.

Condition: Some customers may comment that the left front headlamp door does not remain closed after the headlamps are turned off. Others may comment
that the left headlamp door closes when the headlamps are turned off, but then reopens. In either case, the right headlamp door operates properly.

Important

The following information applies to the left front headlamp door motor/actuator only. It does not apply to and should not be performed on the right front headlamp door motor/actuator.



Install one washer (2) between the left headlamp door motor/actuator (1) and the mounting bracket (3) at each of the three attaching bolt locations. Also replace the insulator (4) on each of the two mounting bracket travel stop tabs (5) as shown. For information on headlamp motor/actuator removal, see the Headlamp Motor/Actuator Replacement procedure in the Lighting sub-section of Body & Accessories in the appropriate Service Manual.

The light does not come on when the housing goes up.

 

Always good if a few washers fix a problem

Mind you with Corvette tax they are probably $20 each

 

Yeah I was expecting that too....not that bad though, about $25 for all the parts....of course I have to wait until next Thursday to get them because they are not in stock anywhere in my area. Oh well....

I had this exact same problem with my car. I replaced just the insulator, thinking hey the first way lasted this long, the new one should as well. The light worked for a few months, then I had the exact same problem. After that I added the washers and insulator and no problems since. The fix is easy and cheap, so do both the first time!

I was able to replace one of the insulators for under $5(only one was bad) and then just went to Home Depot and paid 25 cents for all three washers
