Right now my car is in the shop. Had the heads and Caddy lifters installed. Now I have an engine ping that the tuner can't figure out.
He's changed plugs, the air temp sensor in the airbridge.
The only way he can get rid of the ping is to lower the timing to about 16* to get the ping out BUT it also lowers the HP.
What are the advantages to these lifters? Are they better with stiff valve springs? Do they have better high RPM valve control? I know they are quieter than other designs, but everything else I've heard just seems like rumors...
I'm considering a solid roller cam, but if a hydraulic lifter can offer similar high RPM valve control I'll stay hydraulic and save the potential solid roller headaches.
