Default Need header install instructions with pics

I tried to install my Kooks very unsuccessfully today. I never had near this much issue with my TPIS on my 00 and the FLP on my buddies car. These just would not go in even after taking loose the alternator, starter, coil packs, valve covers and steering shaft. It was like they we binding against the black metal frame inside of the wheel well.

I already looked in the DIY section for C5 and did not see the installation instructions. Thanks

I attempted that same install on my 97' and had no luck at all! I took everythiing off and still nothing. Some really good instructions would be nice. I look everywhere and everythings seems so easy until you actually try. I need to see how the header actually gets fed in to fit. Thats the hardest part. Thanks.

They are a bit more difficult but they fit. First please tell me they are 1 3/4 NOT 1 7/8
You want to loosen (all the way but leave the nuts on) the motormounts FROM UNDER THE CAR. This will allow you to lift each side of the motor as needed.

Drivers side is the tough one, I had no problem with passenger side.
Get a length of 2x3 or 2x4 and SHIFT the drivers side of the engine over, just as the intake manifold makes contact with the cowl firewall area, you should be high enough to slip the header in place.

On the passenger side, make sure there are no tubes (ac, trans lines) or wires, near the headers.

I helped a buddy put a set in a while back. The post above details it nicely. You can see in the pics below that we had to loosen the motor mounts and tilt the engine with a jack to get enough clearance to get the headers in. They both dropped in from the top using this method. Tilt the driver's side to get the passenger header in and vice-versa.. It takes a bit of maneuvering of the headers to get them to drop in with the motor tilted but they will indeed fit.

I was kidding with you Bob, I hope you know that? I just need to know bottom line what I have to remove? I know I need to take the coil packs, alternator, starter off.

Do I need to take the valve covers off? I am just thinking now that I am going to undo the motor mounts and jack this sucker up. I think the Kooks are an added PIA because they have the large connector on the end of the pipe. The TPIS headers do not have the connector on the end which makes them easier to work around.

The one thing I do not understand is how in the hell do I get the drivers side header up from the bottom as many are saying to do? Thanks

Of course I know you were joking man. Remove the valve covers everything you take off makes your install that much easier. I dropped both sides in from the top each time
Make sure you DON'T remove the motor mount nuts from the opposite side of the motor. What I mean is.... if your jacking drivers side, remove the nut from that side and then loosen all the way the nut on the passenger side.
