Default Seat-back problems!

Anyone else having problems with their seat-back not staying up, or moving back a few notches when you put extra weight on it? I find that I can't put all my weight on the left side of my seat because it always breaks its position and folds back a bit. This is really really annoying.

Is this a common problem, and if so is there an easy fix?

My 03Z is in for the third time for the this problem. Each time it has been in the shop it has behaved and worked perfectly. My 97 never had the problem in the 6 years I had it.

I've got lots of miles on my '99 and never had that happen to mine. I read somewhere about a possible twist type issue in the seat. Wondering if it might be related to what is happening with yours. Wherever I read it, someone said their seat was twisted slight therefore one side lower than the other. The fix was raising the seat all the way up and moving it all the way forward,...I think... then raising the seat back adjustment handle. Somehow this would release things back into their normal position. Its a far shot for you, but it won't hurt to try. Wish I remembered where I read it.

Mine always pops back into place if I pull on the handle. The problem is you have to stop the car to do it and it will happen again. I should have mentioned. Mine pops as I am coming out of the toe of the boot at Watkins Glen where your body weight is being thrown to the rear and left as the car goes around the curve and up the hill. This tends to disturb my steering input when the seat back moves suddenly.

It sounds like the same issue. I will definitely try that. I figured the teeth in the mechanism were becoming chipped or something.

Thanks for the tip

It happened to me at the dragstrip! From launch, the seat-back gave way and I found myself fighting to reach the steering wheel and gear shift. Also, I was trying to find the handle to bring it back up before I needed to shift gears. Talk about a waste of a run. I won't go back to the strip until the problem is fixed.

Was playing with the lever earlier today I think that's the problem. If I push it down instead of up (when adjusting the seat back) and try to lean back with all my weight it still stays there. As soon as I stop holding down on the lever it (the seat back) breaks its hold on the one side. Now, how to fix this?

BTW, the handle broke off too!
