Default 422 stroker cam choice

I'm in the process of having a 6.0 iron block 422 stroker built for my 02 Z06. It will consist of Eagle rods, crank and Diamond pistons. I am going with ported L92 heads from Livernois Motorsports and also a port matched L76 intake. I was wondering what cam I should go with. I have heard to go with a smaller cam with the L92s but with the big cubes it should easily swallow a big cam and still be very streetable. I was thinking of the G5X4. This is a weekend car but will be still keeping all of the accessories. I am hoping for an easy 500 rwhp and close to that in rwtq. Thanks!

Mark

You should ask in the c5 fi/nitrous section or over at ls1tech. The guys in general only know about the latest floormats

You are correct in thinking that you need a bigger cam with more cubic inches. With the longer stroke the valve opening event needs to be longer in duration to achieve cylinder filling at high rpm's. Otherwise you'll have great low end torque, but so-so horsepower. I would think Livernois could recommend a good cam for your situation.

I'm running a baby 234-240 112 +0 XE-R cam in my 403 w/ L92 heads. I make over 500 "honest" RWHP and the car is actually easier to drive than stock. Running around the Beltway I can use 6th gear down to 1k RPM and it pulls like a freight train to 6800. I can roast the rears though 3rd gear or drive it to dinner with the wife.

Sometimes less is more with cams.

I would e-mail Andy at A&A or Doug at ECS. These guys do this for a business and will give you the info you need.

I have a 422 as well.

cam = Comp Cam XER 232/240 110+2 .633/.640

its fun and very lopey. My set up is also very driveable.

I have the LS7 heads/intake right now. It made 500/500. At this point the intake is holding the HP back.

I am using a Comp X-ER 230/242 on a 115 in my Livernois L92 headed 427. It is very drivable and idles nicely at 900 with a some lope.

I don't have any dyno numbers yet. I hoping to hit the dyno next Friday.
