I am about to order from Amsoil's link on the left, transmission fluid and gear oil. Which do I buy? I have the MN6. 1Amsoil ATF synthetic universal automatic transmission fluid or Amsoil MTG synthetic manual trans/transaxle gear? 2Amsoil SVG severe gear 75w90 or Amsoil FGR 75w90 longlife gear lube?
Thanks for your help! Also, is the the best place or cheapest place to buy it? Any local big name stores carry it? Thanks for the help!!!
Jason
You will need a 10mm hex-bit drive socket and a pump (makes it really easy). The manual tranny plug is just a square recession (3/8?), so a ratchet and extension work nicely. I bought my stuff via Amsoil's website.
Thanks guys for the respone. I was going to buy Royal Purple, but I heard that it is messing uo something with the rings in the tranny. A tranny shop on LS1tech used it until the started seeing problems and have since switched to Amsoil. Thanks Again!
If you order, you can also become a preferred customer and save some money. I just did this and ordered two cases of oil and some of their EO oil filters, which are supposed to be outstanding. If you use "Subdriver's" number when you join, the forum gets a credit for the sale as well. I need to order tranny fluid later this summer as well.
Interesting anecdote. I changed my rear fluid after 1,000 miles from the factory fill to Amsoil. I then changed it again at 10K miles. With 24K miles, I dumped it out because I swapped in a new DTE rear. The fluid was still blue, not the usual brown/black of used differential fluid. Never expected that
He means they are better than the recommended specs.
I hope this thread doesn't turn sour from here.
We use Amsoil products and have had good results. Don't forget to get a hand pump for the tranny and a hand pump for the diff oil. $10 each from Amsoil.

Wheww! I just ordered all of the above. I thought maybe he was telling me I screwed up and shouldn't of bought the Amsoil. I did hear from a tranny shop that Royal purple was messing up rings or something like that. They had been using it for years and sunce seitched to Amsoil.
And for the do it yourselfer, this comes in handy (I have two, one for tranny fluid, one for diff fluid as I change out my fluids pretty often for track use): AMSOIL Hand Pump

Brad,
How much, if any, Slip-Lock did you need to use in your diff?
I've use Amsoil in several cars, it's good stuff, engine, and transmission When I had my Camaro SS with a T56 I ran Redline D4 ATF in transmission and it was like butter. I used Amsoil ATF in My Corvette's T56 and I wasn't overly impressed. It was smoother than whatever fluid was in there though. Like 1000 miles later I decided to put in some Redline D4 ATF and it was noticeably smoother than the Amsoil. Not like Amsoil is bad stuff, but the Redline was the smoothest out of the three I've tried, Mobil 1, Amsoil and Redline.
When I sold my 1990 Vette. It had over 150K miles on the clock. The buyer had the engine rebuilt. The machine shop reported that the engine looked factory new inside, with little wear, and were very impressed with the Amsoil effect. The car had Amsoil for all fluids and never broke down.
My Z06 is waiting for some down time to fill the tranny and rear diff.
Amsoil nano fiber airfilter already working.
I'm not a dealer!

Brad,
I just ordered the ATD to try this time around. Since the numbers are more like the old formula ATF. I will let you know how it feels when I get it changed. Don
Great product and great service. Being a preferred customer it brings my cost down quite a bit and makes it more cost competitive with other products. However, the quality of the products are more than worth it. Filters are excellent and help keep the oil very clean. Have since converted all my cars to Amsoil products and extended the change rate to many more thousands of miles. The Z06 still goes 5,000 miles or at least twice a year. Special car deserves some special attention.
