hmert--

What you said is generally true regarding plugs vs. patching for speed rating. If I have a nailed tire/slow leak scenario, I would find a shop to do a correct repair, as the runflats buy us time.

I consider the plug kit to be for a more "serious" situation, or for those guys running Z06 or other non-runflat tires. A plugged tire could eventually be taken to a shop for correct patch-type repair.

Does the tire manufactures warranty and speed rating remain intact after using these kits?

The plug kits or the proffessional tire-off patch?

I wouldn't think that anybody would gaurantee a tire with some half-baked plug sticking out of it. Would you try for 180 mph after YOU plugged your tire?

I'm trying to understand the concept here. You want to replace the GY EMT's to gain "better performance" which I read to mean you probably push the car to it's limits. BTW I have yet to run my GY EMT's out of lateral grip. Then you will use a plug kit which will probably void the manufactures warranty and speed rating. I personally wouldn't trust my life or my passengers to a fix I did to my tire on the side of the higway.

I'm I dense. This doesn't make sense. Will someone explain this to me.

IMO, a tire plug is temp until the tire can be repaired by a tire shop. I think that point that Jet was trying to make here was that he has found a HD tire plug kit that seals very well.

Not intended to be permanent for a high performance car. Intended for those that want to get away from run flats, but some insurance to get us home and to a tire shop for a permanent solution.

As others have pointed out, plug kit is Temp fix for your High performance cars. For my SUV I plan on seeing if it is really a lifetime patch.
One time I did get a bolt in my original run flats, wish I did have a plug kit. Car sounded like it was coming apart for the 30 mile drive to tire shop.
