Where can I get the ride control disabled...I just put new shocks in my vette and am throwing all the Ride Control codes.....and how much would it be to disable it? Thanx!
Call around to your local dealers and see if any of the service tech managers are amenable to disabling the F45 option in the BCM for a nominal fee. I know a couple who've done it that way. Or post in your regional area of this forum and see if anyone nearby has a Tech II they can use do disable it. There are also the simulators but those are somewhat costly. You can also diy by adding a resistor in line at each of the shock sensors. Do a search for F45 disable with the archive option in this section.
I had the same issue with my 97, called 2 dealers and they would not disable the system, got tired of their excuses, I found some sensosrs from LAPD you can use to disable it, check out their website.
Dont throw anything away yet as you will need to hook it up to clear your current codes. You cannot disable it while there is a code and the code sets right away. Part of the system start up is a read of all modules without the parts in place or hooked up you get a code which prevents the removal procedure. Deleting the system is better than the resistors as they will eventually fail leaving you in the limp mode and who knows when or where that may happen.

I just removed the F45 system from a customers 98. I removed the shocks, actuators, switch, capped the plugs and drove it to my favorite shop. While it was displaying the service ride control code.
Tech pulled it aroud back hooked up the Tech II and 10 minuets later I was on my way.
The Tech II will allow the tech to program the PCM so RTD is set as though it was never installed.
System was unchanged for a 99 So I can assume it would be the same.

I am about to take my 99 to a guy with Tech II. The previous owner said he already tried his as a dealership and the problem codes never went away and that something needs to be disconnected from the BCM first for it to work. What needs to be disconnected?
The BCM is basicaly a computer. It has hard wired programs and flashed programs. The F-45 (Selective Ride Control) is a programmed option that can be removed just like programs on your laptop. The only difference is it requires the TECH II to do it. Once you disconnect the ride control module from the circuit, the TECH II is used to remove it from the BCM> Thats it. Theres a really detailed post some where on the TECH Section. If you can find it, you will have all the answers.
See if you can do an advanced search on the C5 Tech section for that post.
