The fuel pump on my Camaro died about a year ago. The only means of cooling the pump is the fuel itself. A way to prevent the pump from overheating and dying is to always get gas before you get to a 1/4 tank full. That way gas will always be on the pump to keep it cool. When a tank gets to the 1/4 full level, it doesn't cool the pump as much. Just don't let your tank get low, fill it up, and it will save you tons of trouble! I'd always wait till my car was empty and that's what did it. We had to get the exhaust, rear end, and tank down just to change it. All could've been avoided if I'd just filled up sooner!

Problem solved. Ok. It was the passenger sending unit. What a pain. Replaced it. Is there any way I can do a single tank setup? This duel tank, duel sending unit setup is killing me.

Ok,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Im confused! How can the passengers sending unit have anything to do with the fuel pump??? The sending unit is only used as a couputation device the estimate the fuel level. Even if it completely died, it would cause your tank to read empty and or give you a DTC for a sending unit error.

The passenger sending unit was no pumping gas into the driver side tank. So basically my gauges read 1/4 full but there was no actual gas in the driver's tank for the fuel pump.
