Default Sewing machine sound

Well I did a H/C change. Cam is a 224/224 .567/.567 lift on a LSA114.

I had/have the sewing machine noise. I installed the Caddy Race Lifters and still have the noise. I'm using 7.400 push rods. A frined told me to change to 7.425 push rods to meet the pre-load of the lifters and this will quieten the sewing machine sound some.

I heard a lot about the Caddy Racing Lifter help with the sewing machine sound, but it hasn't worked for me so far.

Any other sugesstions out there?
Thanks...

Aftermarket rockers have helped some quiet down the noise if you are running the stockers.

Vettenuts...I have the 7.425 push rods to install..so it this doesn't qyiet it down some...you suggest the aftermarket rockers. 1.7 rockers may do it? What brand do you recommend?

Check with Cobra4B. He did the YellaTerra's and I'm not sure how much they quieted things. A few have commented that they help. I am running the Crane's and mine is quiet, but then again I think I may have a slower ramp on my cam then you have and that may be a contributor to the lack of sewing machine noise on my car. I have also been reading good things on the Scorpion rockers, but don't know much about them personally. They are supposed to be light and have an excellent wipe pattern, from what I have read the best wipe pattern of any fixed fulcrum rocker (Cranes are adjustable so the wipe pattern can be optimized).

The sewing machine sound is the sound of the valves closing against the seats. If you have dual valve springs then there is your reason. I have been considering going with behives to see how much of a difference they make. I have a fairly mild cam so I'm not too concerned about losing the security of dual springs.

I would sure like to hear from anyone who perhaps has already done this.

Thanks vettenuts again... I seen the ones in Summit racing ...Harland Sharp brand. They come 1.7 or 1.8. I'll look up the info you gave..

Hey Deno, I know how to fix it, do what I did and get loud exhaust Just kidding but the longer pushrods will help but not get rid of it completely. I tried everything including changing the cam and lifters if you remember. Still makes noise.

I have Yella Terra's and it quiet the valvetrain noise down a little bit. Say like a scale from 10 to 8. Not much but noticeable.

Thanks Marc...I drove it today nd the sewing machine noise is something to get use to I suppose. I believe in what you say... This coming weekend I'll be installing the 7.425 push rods and hope that will bring it down some...you see where vettenut recommended looking into the aftermarket rockers..so I'll see. BTW the exhaust is louder with the LG LT headers...

yea but i honestly think it has to do with the ramp rate of these cams. I really think that alot of the noise is from the valves getting slammed open and shut

^ I have yella terras... they're the newer lightened design. They work great. There is valvetrain noise when the oil is hot, but nothing worse than stock when hot. Click the link in my sig for an idle video. I don't run fuel rail covers and I have a vented hood so that actually increases the noise.

Here's some pics:

The valves are actually set down gently on the closing ramp.
