I'm a new 02 owner, My car is bone stock, power is good but doesen't really jump out of the hole like I think it should! I wiil not light up the tires at all with Trac. Control off. It's an automatic But with the torque and the HP it has I'm a little dissapointed in the bottom end performance Is this normal? Just curious Thanks.........Pat

I would think they are 2:73s I haven't checked that out yet! But I would think it's the 2:73.

That is why it feels like it bogs.Need bigger gears(3.15)'s or more and an aftermarket Tq converter 2800 stall or higher and it will feel like a completely different car.jerry

Default Axle Ratio

Look on your Glove Compartment door for the "Service Parts Identification" label.

G90 is a 3.15 axle ratio
GU2 is a 2.73 axle ratio

Both of these are listed as "automatic transmission only" I have trouble breaking much loose with the Traction Control on as well. However I have the 3.15 too, I hope you find the troubles and..Happy Trails!

You need gears !! I had the 2:73's and couldnt even squeal the tires. I now have 3:90's and roast them off with ease.
I have a 4:10 rear w/ hardened shaft for sale for $ 550.00 that whines a little when letting off the throttle.

I also have an auto with the stock rear end. I find it very hard to get the rear tires spinning on any surface. The local tuner (FLP) will be installing a new 3.42 rear end in a few weeks. This change along with a basic tune for shift points should really change the low end response and let me burn off a bit of tire tread whenever I want. I will post results after the upgrade.

Torque Converter and/or gears will get you what you want. 2.73s are for gas mileage.
