Tell them to take the key out of the ignition for 10 seconds and then try it again. Mine did the exact same thing at Jiffy Lube the other day. The technician came in and asked if I had been having any problems with my car quiting when I tried to move it. I said no and went out and looked at it. The DIC was saying to take the key out of the ignition for 10 seconds. I did and it ran fine after that. Kid was scared to death, though. Thought he messed up my car. I guess this is a safety feature?? If you leave your keys in the ignition and then get out of the car you need to remove them before you can move it or something.....??? I haven't tried to replicate the issue again.

It's a column lock issue. Better get it fixed before you get stuck somewhere.
It could be that the resistor chip in the key needs cleaning. Clean it with alcohol and let it dry.
Are you getting any message on the DIC ? Does it say "Pull Key and wait 10 seconds" or does it say "service column lock" ? First coud be just key issue, second could be column lock problem.
Your getting a VATS issue. The ignition switch needs to read the resistor chip embedded in the key. if it is dirty or damaged, it will normaly give you the pull key message. If you dont pull the key and let the BCM re-read the chip, it will let you start the car but,,,once the wheels move, it will shut off the fuel and kill the engine. You need to do the following things to further diagnose this issue:
1. Clean the key with an alcohol pad and try it again.
2. If you have a spare key,,try that one and see if it eliminates the issue.
3. Read your DTC from the PCM. Follow this procedure:
This is the absolute best C5 Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) web site!!!
Go to “technical data base” and then to “Corvette ECM Computer Codes”. Then select your year car. Read the instructions and then scroll down to the "READ MORE" window to view the code definitions.\
The tech at the dealer said the Key Switch was bad. He showed us on his computer that it was indicating the key was OUT when it was in. Changed out the switch and he picked it up Friday. Everything is fine...Well at least it was/
Yesterday afternoon he puts the key in the switch and it won't turn. Cleaned the key, disconnected battery all the regular crap no good.
The dealer had the car towed back this morning to re-fix it.
Gosh, I wish it was.
I ended up just crashing at my sister's (where I was at for my nephew's graduation party) I woke up at 0620 and went out to try and start her even though everyone was still sleeping. Same problems....different day . I don't know what I can do?

Now the dealer can get the key to turn but nothing happens. No DIC no nothing. The tech says he's baffled. Duh.. maybe it has something to do with the new switch you put in?
Service manager says they are going to the GM tech line on Monday and maybe a new computer.
Duh.. maybe it has something to do with the new switch you put in?
Dealer found one of the pins in the NEW switch had dropped. (That's why it would not turn) And when he fixed that and still had no power found out that when the pin dropped it somehow shorted out the resistor in the key so it would not recognize the key. (put it in security mode)
He cut a new key and everything is fixed.. finally.
Good thing is He covered to towing costs and the repairs at NO charge and really tried hard to make things right in the customer service dept. Findley Chevrolet in Las Vegas.
