If you disable your PE delay you can get rid of that lean tip in that you see at the begining of your pull. Worth a couple more hp/ftlbs down low. looks good

Wow! Nice numbers! In a couple of years I might look at doing something like this. Total cost for this mod package?

I got wood looking at this thread I'm putting together a 427 based on a sleeved LQ9, and this is just awesome. I run the same rear tires. I want to go a little bigger on my cam, but not too big...

I bet that thing has little to no lope at all! Got a sound byte? I dont want to select a cam based on sound, but it will give me a rough idea where the power is based on the lopiness. I wanted to go with something around a 240/250/114... I havent selected a cam yet and I'll be around 11.3:1... dont want to kill off more bottom end than necessary to meet my 550rwhp goal. Damn this is awesome!

I love big cube engines. What is your mileage like, city/hwy?

It has a little bit of lope but nothing radical. Do a search for posts by me. I did post a sound bite on another thread that I started.

I only have a little over 500 miles on the engine right now but so far the mileage is 16ish city and 23ish on the highway.

I wish that affordable big inch engines were available 5 years ago. I'd have never bought the Vortech supercharger that I had.

^^I am curious as to why you like the big cube motor over the SC motor since I have been thinking about going one way or the other.

Thanks.

Should say your motor looks great and that torque curve is something else!!!

Low end torque. Simple as that.

Just like edcmat-l1 said. There is a lot more power under the curve.

When I had the Vortech with headers at 8psi it made 501 rwhp and 463 rwtq (current kits will do better than that). I now have 7 less hp and 30 more torque plus way more low end torque. I also don't have that extra 70-80 lbs on the front end and I don't have all the extra stuff on the engine that the blower has.

^^Thanks for the reply.

That is really some motor, both in terms of power and looks. I saved this thread for future reference.

If you are still running a MAF you can gain quite a lot on top by going with a Lingenfelter or Halltech 100mm MAF. You have a similar cam as my 440 (232-240-117) and I was peaked at 6000 rpm like you with the 85mm MAF, when I installed the 100mm Lingenfelter it now pulls hard to the rev limiter at 6500.

That is great info! I am still running the stock MAF.

RMCR, the shop that did my installation, suggested the LPE MAF as well.

Do you or anyone else think that an air bridge would make any difference? I am still running the stock air bridge too.

Good info. I should plan on doing that. Hell I bet if you fully optimized that setup you could get 550 with a cam that is a touch bigger... I might need to reconsider my cam selection to something more tame, like a 230/236/114.

I just want 550. After looking at how tame your cam is and the similarities in the setup, I would think it is completely doable with a near stock idle

Was your car dyno tuned or mail order?

I am certain that there is more in it. I did the tune myself using EFILive. I am still learning...

Mine wanted slightly shorter than stock pushrods to get the valvetrain dead on. We ended up using Comp 7.350".

If you want a 234/242 then that is what you should get. It costs about the same to buy an off the shelf cam as it does to have Comp grind you exactly what you want.
