Default C5 427 Dyno Results

Today I rented a local DynoJet and tuned my 427. This is only the second time that I have done any tuning so I am still quite new at it.

This is the setup:
  • SDPC 427 shortblock based on a LS7 block
  • Livernois motorsports stage 2 L92 heads
  • Comp Cams 230/242 115+0 cam
  • stock L76 intake with stock 90mm TB and 39# injectors
  • Dynatech 1-3/4" headers
  • stock Z06 cat back

My goals for this project were to have total drivability, an idle not higher than 900 rpm, make 500 rwhp, and have the power peak at about 6000 rpm. All those goals have been met (or at least close enough).

The conditions today at dyno time were 89 degrees, 15% relative himidity, and the barometric pressure was 24.12. The baro is not a typo. I am at high altitude.

The numbers were 494 rwhp at just over 5900 rpm and 492 rwtq at about 4600 rpm.

Look at that torque!

Very nice for livin in the clouds!
you would def gain a chunk at sea level. Well beyond your 500 rwhp goal.

Actually the 494 is SAE corrected. The uncorrected rwhp was 384.

Thanks for putting more proof to the disinformation that was being offered by people aledgedly in the know that the big intake runner on the L92's will make the bottom end soggy. Every single L92 build from my 403 to your 427 make phenominal low end torque.

Congrats!!!

I was a little bit concerned about the larger ports and low end. As we've both seen there is no need at all for concern. It's making 400 rwtq at about 2400 rpm!

I am running Pilot Sport 295/35-18s. I happen to have an extra set of Pilot Sports "in stock". For some reason the rears are wearing much faster than the fronts...

I guess you'll need to install a heavier throttle return spring!!

Nicely done!

What valve train components were used?

I almost went that way, kinda sad I didn't.

Comp push rods and stock L92 rockers. I think that the Livernois heads have Manley valves and Comp 918 springs.

That torque curve is amazing. Gotta love the big cube motors.

You should take a drive down to sea level to even 1000ft. I bet it will surprise you when it breaks loose on the 2-3 shift.
