1999 missing when warm only

1999 missing when warm only
MY 99 automatic runs great 99.8% of the time.
After a long road trip the car misses and even seems to back fire when pulling a load (typically after shifting into 3rd in traffic). I can't get it to repeat the problem when driving arround town even on the hottest days, seems to happen only after a long drive (20-30 miles)on the freeway.
I get no engine codes to investigate so don't know where to go to find the problem. I had a similar situation on an older vette with a coil wire but obviously can't be the case here.
Also have the same miss and popping back when driving at 65 mph and going into heavy excelleration when car kicks down into 2nd gear.
Any ideas?
