Default Vararam in the rain

I was worried in the rain behind traffic is it sucking water in the motor?

Doubt it....

Many people use the vararam here, and have no problems whatsoever. I only can see a problem with the vararam when going through deep standing water.

Go for it!

I have driven my 02 ZO6 through storms that had cars parked on the side of the road! As long as you don't submerge the front end of your car on a deeeep puddle, you wont have any thing to worry about. I will tell you that in heavy rain storms, you will get water droplets in the intake which really doesn't hurt anything. I have seen evidence of this as a random MAF DTC which can be easily cleared or ignored.

It a very good performance oriented product that works!

Rain is no issue what so ever...
standing water deep enough to cover the fog light bezels is a problem.

I've driven through some biblical rain with mine this year, with no problems at all. Even hit some pretty deep standing water that I thought might cause problems, but not even a stumble. Obviously you shouldn't drive through a river, but otherwise you should be fine.

I drove about 200 miles up to ECS to have my Clutch re-done afer 1500 miles and 3.90 gears installed. It was pouring rain for the whole drive, and about half way into the trip, I remembered I have the vararam system on the car. I drove on the I-95 from Virginia and NJ turnpike at about 70-75 MPH, for a couple hours without any problems.
The drive was part open road and part behind tractor trailers.

I was a believer after that

Stop already with this question. Rain doesn't effect this CAI any different from all the others. I've driven my car in heavy rain with no problem. I've never seen anyone report hydrolock with the Vararam.
Cajundude has great prices, and his instructions are all you need.
Remember to OIL the filter before you install it. It doesn't tell you to do this in the instructions, and you must do this.

btw i just called and bought one after reading this thread. Not because i believed that it would cause hyrdolock but because I the price is the best i've ever seen. I've seen used one sell for more than what i just paid.

$289 shipped.

I saved so much over other vendors I bought the TB stack as well.

I think I paid $399.00 for it 3 years ago and at that time, that was a great price.

FYI, I never oiled my filter until last week.

I've driven three winters in Portland Oregon - daily driver - with my Vararam. Need I say anymore?

Drove mine through the past month of rain here in TX, no problem. I did go around one giant puddle which looked like it'd get up to my fog lights, but other than that, I just drove normally.
