Default Turn signals acting weird...

Ok the bulbs are good and the fuse is good to but I have noticed lately that the turn signals work when they want to, yesterday when I drove my car I went to use the left signal and nothing, switched it to the right, still nothing, a few miles later they work like advertised, this has happend a couple times now anyone know what it could be??

it's your hazard switch. It's sticking. Fairly common problem. The turn signals use the same relay. The switch will eventually need replacing, but for now, if you jab the hazard switch a few times quickly and fairly hard while you have a turn signal on, they will start working again. I've been doing this for several months. I've had a bunch of other projects going on...and haven't gotten around to replacing it yet.

Same exact thing started with my '01 this week. I have never touched the hazard switch since new because of all the problems I read on the forum about it. Could it still be sticking even though I have never touched it ?

Try selecting and deselecting the hazard switch a few times. If the signals start working thats the problem

If not, it could be the turn switch on the stalk. Both are known to fail reguarly. There are a few How Tos out there to replace both.

Just to be clear, it's not the relay, it's the hazard switch itself, usually.

Oh, so you have to replace the actual hazard switch?

I've also read that shooting it with some electrical cleaner works... I had mine replaced under my GMPP though.

Search hazard switch. You'll find instructions with pictures and tips. It's posted several times so just read through them so you get the whole picture. It can be changed by removing the console and radio instead of the dash cover. If it acts up on the cruise, just press it several times and it will most likely work for a while (sometimes weeks)

Had hazard switch problem and replaced it the hard way (removed the whole dash cover). Local vette tech says he can pop one out in minutes through the radio opening (once it's removed). A couple of weeks later the taillights failed so I had to replace the turn signal stalk which was fairly simple. Saved $$$ buying through GM parts direct.
