50 weight oil for daily driving?? I've heard some use it for road racing applications when you operating the car in extreme heat, etc. Might want to consider 5W40 synthetic.

in early 2005 I built a 2000 LS1 for a project car with the SLP stage III head/cam - LS6 intake, headers, 36# injectors and 3,000 stall.

It is strong and runs great...but DANG...I HATE the tick/tick/tick/tick. I assume then the base circle on the cam on the non-lift side is where this comes from? My stage III kit included new pushrods that were matched by SLP to the kit.

I have heard about the o-ring on the oil pump contributing to this - I have a SLP oil pump too and aftermarket gauges - but I don't see any more than 50 psi, and no less than 25 (can't guarantee the gauge is right).

If it is the o-ring, how do I tell, and what do you do?

My lifters and rockers are stock LS1.
