Default Backpressure Loss??

Will running a basically stock LS1 with straight pipes(no mufflers) cause a significant loss in backpressure or, an increase in flow and power? This is with stock headers and cats. By significant I mean power loss.

I haven't ran a C5 without mufflers, but based on all my other vehicles that I have ran without mufflers (while changing out cats, x pipes, headers, etc) you will notice a loss in torque, which will make the vehicle feel sluggish, esp at low rpm.

this is only my experience and others may disagree, but honestly the stock LS1 exhaust isn't a HUGE restriction on a stock motor. As a comparison, there are people (like me) running stock Z06 Ti exhaust with 400-500rwhp. I can't imagine how loud a C5 would be without mufflers...I know the SLP loudmouths are the closest thing and they were horrible on the highway, you could barely hear yourself think.

Changing the mufflers, cats and mid section without doing anything else, really wont get you that much Dont get me wrong, you will most likely seea 10-12 HP gain. The key to making everything work and geting the most out of bolto stuff is eliminitating the intake and exhaust flow choke points.

Once you have a free flowing exhaust the intake tract will start to become restrictive. Air filter intake manifold etc etc... Once you fix that,,,your valves and heads will start to be the limatation. Them your cam. Get the picture.

Running straight pipes will be L O U D and crude sounding. You will also have a LOT of interior cabin resonance. It wont bother you at first, but as time goes by,,,,,you will grow tired of the noise.

I have a CAI and a tune. Beleive it or not, the car is not so loud. Its almost quiet at low speed but sounds great at WOT. Im just worried about losing low end trq or pwr. so far it feels good, revs up a little faster but I'll be getting long tubes and an x-pipe soon and was wondering if no mufflers will be a negative impact.
