It's pretty easy, and cheap, too, but it didn't make any difference on my car. I think taking the time to align the bushing on the new shifter made more difference than the AV mod.

It works, you'll notice the difference immediately.
Use a 24mm socket. Washers are 20mm and can be found in the oil pan bolt section of auto store like PepBoys, AutoZone, Etc.
