Default A/C Quit

My air cond. quit working this morning. The light on the A/C switch just flashes in goes right back off.I've been noticing my external temp has been showing wrong for about a month now. This morning is was about 78* outside and it was showing 32*.Would this cause the A/C not to work? Are they tied together?I haven't put any gauges on the system at all yet.Just was thinking that the ext. temp sensor might have something to do with it.Where is the sensor located? Thanks in advance.

When the hvac light flashes it should be sending a code to the DIC. Did you check for codes?

The system thinks it TOOOOO COLD outside to function. Clean the connector and electrical contacts in the external temp probe or replace it with a new one. Thats a first thing that you need to do. If the system thinks its too cold out, it will not set a code but the compressor will not function until it senses or gets the signal thats it warm out.

Didn't I see a post regarding an outside temperature sensor near the radiator intake? If it goes bad then you get the problems described? I saw some pictures in the post showing the sensor in the post? Good Luck and I hope you get her fixed.

I tried cleaning it and it didn't change.I went and bought a new one for $10.07 from the dealer.I couldn't believe it was that cheap. It still shows ext 32*.

You probably did.I had to do a search to find it.It's right below the frame rail on the passenger side, infront of the radiator.Sounds kinda complicated, but it's actually easy to get to it.

I disconected the battery and left it unhooked for 15 minutes.Reconected it and it now shows 92*(it's hot here today). The A/C now works. I guess I should have done that when I first put the sensor on,as I have no way to clear any codes.Either way thanks for the help!!
