I appreciate all of the advice; however, the last plugs on my car lasted for over 60k miles which included cross country trips, easily over 100 runs down a drag strip and over a dozen weekend racing events and never needed sleeves even with the headers. They were changed because I felt like it was time not because anything was wrong, and my Vette has not run as well since. Plus I could have the Taylors by Monday and the best I could find for the Z06 wires was 5 - 7 business days.
Anything other than stock wires (or autolites) and you're wasing money.
The stock iginition on these cars is good to over 1000 horses... ask any big tuner. There is no need for the fancy MSD coils or expensive wires, they do nothing.
We have individual coil on plug w/ 6" wires... it's hard to improve upon. The only time you'll notice a performance gain are if your mind is playing tricks on you or you had something wrong before the swap.
Plus, the oem wires have oem heat shields and the wires click into place w/ a very positive connection which most aftermarket wires don't do.
If your headers are very close get kool-sox or fire sleeves. I have Kooks and they don't come close at all... I've been running HPDEs for 4 years w/o any extra wire protection other than the oem shields w/o issue.
I'm using Magnecore's, they are red and the stock heat shields fit. They seem to be working fine after 40,000 miles. I think I paid around $75 for the set.
I spoke to a mechanic who worked for the shop who originally put on my headers. He said that the shop uses Taylors. I have ordered a set and should have them by Monday. Thanks for all the help.
I like Taylor wires and have used them on many of my cars, but Taylor "spiral core" wires caused noise on the radio of my '02 Z06. When you change wires again go with the red GM performance wires, they worked the best of the six different brands I tried on my car.
