Just get the squirrel nest out of the HVAC....but might want to change the oil, especially if it has been sitting for a long time. Maybe also get a new air filter, and charge the battery. And then drive it, not good for the car to stand like that, not good at all.
Its a car, not a statue....
You should swap the stock plugs, they have platinum pucks that will come off and somehow find their way out of the motor.
Other than that, I've proven to myself that having a C5 sit is waaaay more damaging than driving it; I've had electrical problems "fix" themselves (basically the contacts in various relays are being cycled now, where before they would oxidize, etc.) Like the previous poster said, it's a car, not a museum peice.
The lost "pucks" don't hurt any parts, but they casue the plug to be overgapped which can make it run a bit rougher.
I'd replace the plugs w/ NGK TR-55s or similar and just enjoy it. Being that it's 7 years old (almost 8 now) I'd make sure the trans/dif fluids are changed and the coolant is flushed.
Dexcool is good for 5 years or 150,000 miles. My mother had never had her '99 serviced... other than oil changes. I finally convinced her to take it in for the laundry list:
When she got it back she called me and thanked me for pushing her to take it in... she said it drove like a new car w/ the fresh clutch fluid and trans fluid.
If you bought the car used I would say change out all the fluids, plugs, wires as time permits. Right now you don't know when they were last changed, or if they were ever changed.
If you change tranny fluid, etc you'll have that peace of mind. I would start with Oil change first, then tranny change, flush radiator, then probably lastly the plugs and wires...
Oh and yes, if your battery is the original A/C Delco, change it ASAP and check for any corrosion underneath. This can be lethal and expensive!
It's not clogged or dirty. I'm just changing it for PM.
Thanks

Mine was a bitch to get off because one of the plastic retainers on the fuel line had disintigrated. Had to lower the left muffler to get to it and it was hard to get one of the clips out that normally can be removed with fingers (albeit small fingers not gigantic ones like mine). I stopped doing PERFECT THINGS to my cars a long while back. Half the time you can RUIN a perfectly good part in the process of replacing a component especially when the part you are replacing DOESN'T NEED TO BE REPLACED. My father had a saying that I didn't follow until I had destroyed several parts on the car. "LEAVE IT ALONE IF ITS NOT BROKEN." Of course you may like crawling up under your C5 and like the grit and grime falling in your eyes from above. I don't but to each his own. HAVE FUN! BIGHANK
