As i slowly move through this engine build little problems have popped up. some have been with the machine shop, others have sent me around town looking for the right tool, but the latest has sent me to the freezer. I was trying to install my ARP head studs and they would not thread into the block . I tried the stock bolts and they worked just fine . I wasn't not sure what to do.... my buddy said to freeze them . So i tried it and sure enough it worked like a dream . now all my head studs are in and the motor is ready for heads .

its amazing how freezing metal will get u that extra couple thousands u need. glad u got it figured out u know what they say. "if it goes together easy its because your doing it wrong, and if it fights u the whole way itll stay together forever.

Yeah i guess talking to some other people that the iron blocks don't have a problem with the ARP studs, just the aluminum blocks.

Did you try to lube the threads before putting them in?

I'm new to LS motors and this thread is pretty interesting. I'm thinking about taking a similar route once I get a C5. I'll be following this to see how the end result turns out. Good luck!

What do all of you guys think of the SLP ported oil pumps?

well I'm going with the melling M10295 oil pump and 5/16 7.400 engine pro push rods.

I'll post pics of the M10296 (high capacity) and the m10295 (high pressure) pumps next to each other to show the size difference.

Well the motor is done and in, and the car runs like a top. With much thanks to LS1 power tuning in Charleston Sc.

So far the motor made 407rwhp @ 6500rpm and 383.99rwtq (peak @ about 3800rpm) on the stock air box and 93 pump gas. I have since added a halltech intake and am having the car put back on the dyno to finish the tune and get a real peak Hp#

The air system is sitting on the workbench.

The engine is built for a 200 shot of gas but I don't think i will get around to putting it in there.
