What is the easiest way to vertically align the stock C5 exhaust tips (2000)? I'd like to raise or lower one side by about 1/4" without breaking anything! It's obvious that this problem is quite common by looking around on the street, so hopefully someone has an easy fix. Thanks for your help!
To do a vertical adjustment you should only need to loosen the two bolts directly behind the mufflers, next to the differential. Position the exhaust where you want it, HOLD, then have a friend tighten the bolts.
To adjust in any other directions, you can also loosen the bolts attaching the exhaust to the midpipe. I've done this about 6 times with my B&B exhaust. It's "almost" perfect now.
If you cannot adjust the height like you want you may have to disconnect the rear mount, let it droop down so you can get a channel lock or a vice grip on the tab and bend it up or down according to what you need. I had to do this on my corsa - the tab was welded too high and it was much easier that removing the entire exhaust and replacing with a new one (under corsa warrantee).
loosen the clamps
put a piece of 2x 4 under the tips
center the 2x4 over a floor jack
slowly raise it making sure the 2x4 remains level
raise the jack until the tips are at the position you want
tighten the clamps
release the jack
your done...

I just did this same thing to my B&B pipes on Saturday. A chimp could do it. I'm proof
